H{ippity} Hopping from Our new Digs!!

Hey there guys!! I totally forgot to post my blog! We've beem moving all weekend. It's been hot and yucky, but I;m sooooo happy to be in here. We;re not completely done, but we're getting there. The spousal unit is at the old place with 2 of the kids, getting more of the last of the stuff and cleaning up, while I'm at the new place helping to unpack and organize the new one.

I'm under dr's orders to lay low. On Saturday morning, while unloading and bringing in the first truckload of furniture, I tripped on the stairs and broke one of my fingers. It's only a hairline fracture, but I guess he doesn't want me to make it worse? I don't know. It sure does throb. I've never broken anything before, so I haven't got anything to compare it to.

Funny thing is that my card for today was made for my MIL, who broke BOTH of her arms just over a week ago, and we found out on Thursday. I made the card on Friday, right before I packed up the rest of my crafting stuff. I'm not completely thrilled with it, but the spousal unit says she'll love it.
The image and sentiment are both from Music of my Heart, which I do have in stock, but it's packed away somewhere....along with everything else I own and it may be a while before I locate it. Please be patient with me while I did out from under everything.

On the good news side? WE HAVE REAL INTERNET!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!!!!

Friends with Sanity, I Mean Flair

Hey there, peeps. Welcome to another Friends with Flair!! For a full list of participants, check out the Unity blog. As always, somebody's got that elusive blinkie. Find it, leave a comment, and you could win 25 random Unity stamps!

As I write this, we have entered the 36 hour countdown until we move all of our worldly possessions less than 10 miles up the road and off Fort Meade. We'll be picking up a 17 foot truck from Penske at 8am on Saturday morning. Yes, it would have been nearly 1/3 of the cost to go with U-haul, but those of you who know me well know just how little I and my family trust U-haul after that horrific wreck in 2003, which was due to metal failure in one of their trailers. If you ever get curious, you can check out the photos of the aftermath at my flickr stream.

So, I've been slowly packing up my card-making supplies in and around packing up other things. I've got one knitting project set aside, one book, and an important embroidery project. Those will remain within reach. Woe be to the child that packs my bag or hides it from me.

My card for today uses Unity's Bevy of Butterflies. I pulled colours from some of the patterned paper that came from the Caffinated Cropper kit Birds of a Feather. Considering my state of mind of late, it should probably say "embrace insanity", but I think this is close enough.Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be back next week, with real internet and a brand new home. I can hardly wait!!!!! Let's just hope I come back with my sanity at least somewhat intact.

Blog Hopping for My Sanity

Hey there peeps! I am in packing hell. I keep reminding myself that it's worth it, but boy, the stress is really getting to me. So, a sanity-saving blog post is in order, and what better way to start the day than with Taylored Expressions?

We were given this bright, pretty picture to use as colour inspiration. I added that to this gorgeous necklace from this week's Etsy Inspired shop and Card Patterns sketch 69. I topped it all off with Discover Your Wings from Taylored Expressions, which is truly both gorgeous and inspirational. I thought it particularly appropriate considering just how much we have been dreaming of this move - and how much we are dreaming that it'll be OVER!

I'm back to packing...we've got the premove inspection today at 3. Have an awesome day!

FWF is Such a Treat

Hey there everyone! I'm taking a chance today and posting with dial up. If this goes wonky, please accept my apologies!
Only one more week until we move and then we'll have real internet again! Wooohoo!!!

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, guess what? It's Friday and that means it's time for Friends with Flair! Check out the Unity Blog for a full list of participants. As usual, somebody is hiding that elusive blinkie. Find it, leave a comment, and you could win some Unity goodness!

I am Etsy Inspired again. The shop this week is called My Zeotrope. I tried not to, really, as I wanted to do a layout this week, with my new Donna Downey gigantoid stamps, but I kept seeing all these little dessert prints, like this adorable cupcake, that reminded me of the Cherry on Top kit from the Caffinated Cropper (now sold out, but her newest one has just been released and it looks totally fab!), so I took the hint and put my layout away, since it just wasn't coming together.

NOT. AT. ALL.

I think my card, however, came out pretty well, especially considering that I pulled the parts together at about 3 this morning and then left them on my desk to actually assemble and photograph when I got up this morning. Sleep was necessary.

I've used Laura's Sketch #54 from 2 Sketches 4 You. The cherry and sentiment are from one of my fav Unity KOTMs, June '09, Perfect in Every Way.Today we're taking a trip down to Walter Reed to get the results of some neuropsych testing that was done for both our younger son and our youngest daughter. After that, it's back to packing. We're really lucky in that we'll be able to move some boxes into the new garage already. I think I love our new landlords!

Oh, and for those who are interested, it's not our car, but those are two of my kids. Check out the new digs!

FWF In Stitches

Hey there, everyone! It's Friday, and you know what that means! Yup, it's time for another Friends with Flair hop. Check out the Unity Blog for a full list of participants...someone's got that elusive blinkie, which gives you a chance to win some Unity goodness!!

This week I'm using some of my new Unity/Cosmo Cricket Material Girl rubber (available at your local or online stamp store) and paper along with some of the embellishments from the first Caffinated Cropper kit (now sold out, but Amy has some of last month's left and there will be a brand spanking new kit out on the 15th!) to be both EtsyInspired and to join in with Speedy the Cat's Saturday Challenge for the very first time!

This week, Speedy the Cat's Challenge #6 was to use buttons and bows on the card. Perfect time to make use of Material Girl, don't you think? Well, not only that, but EIC91 is a cute little shop called How Beadyful and on it, I found these super cute button buttons! They're buttons covered with button fabric! Too cute!
Fifteen days to go until we move into our new house and have our own internet again. I'll be so very glad to not have to go to Starbucks or Panera or the community center just to go online. It'll make crafting of all kinds *and* blogging much easier.

Have a great day!

Birds of a Feather Caffinate Together

Hey guys...please scroll down for Friends with Flair - after you read this post.

Today is the 3rd Caffinated Cropper Customer Blog hop. How's that for a mouthful? If you are coming here from Ashley's fabulous blog, then you are in the right spot. If not, please start at the beginning with Amy's blog. You'll also want to end up back with Amy because some lucky customer who completes the hop and then comments on Amy's blog will win a mini kit!

Amy has put together another fabulous kit. I just love how her mind works! I would never have come up with everything she has put together. I gotta admit that this time, my favourite part is the stamps from Paper Makeup Stamps, even though I didn't use them today. I thought I'd go out of my comfort zone and use rub ons, which I hardly ever do. Let me tell you, the rub ons from EAD Stickerz go on so easy! They're super high quality. I am massively impressed. The only things I used on my card that weren't from this months' kit were the card stock, adhesive and ink. I even bought my flower frog from Amy, and I'm awfully glad I did.

Time to head over to the uber-talented Christi! Have a great day!!

FWF is Close to Home

Hey everyone! It's Friday and time for Friends With Flair. I wonder who has the blinkie this week! I still don't have real internet at home, but we're closing in on the move date - and then we'll be good to go. We start moving on June 26 and will be fully in our new home on June 30!! I can hardly wait!!

Today I am at neither Starbucks nor Panera. I learned a nifty little secret. The community center here at Midway Commons (the neighbourhood where we live on Fort Meade) has an internet cafe *and* a WiFi connection!! I had NO idea. So I am about 2 blocks from home, sitting inside a very nice room, looking out at the pool. I'm sure it won't be nearly this quiet after the kids get out of school, but for now, it's very calm, and since I'm not in the internet cafe itself (I brought my laptop, of course), I was able to bring my own coffee! Yes, I have my priorities.

So, this week I got to break out my Unity/Cosmo Cricket stamps! I finally ordered the Garden Variety paper from Mandy at Limelight. She is just awesome. Seriously. And for inspiration, I looked to this spoon from EtsyInspired's shop of the week, Sunshyne Silverwear. Doesn't it remind you of the flowers on this great Cosmo dp?
I used this weeks sketch from Taylored Expressions, which is just too cute.

Don't forget to check the Unity blog for a full list of blog participants.
